We’re told automation is the future. It certainly saves a lot of time and can now be used to do more than we ever imagined. This is especially true with the mainstreaming of RPA (Robotic Process Automation); it won’t be long before we’re having meetings with computers and chatbots. Come to think of it I wonder if I’ve ever been chatting to one and not known it?
At Innovate NP our business model is built on automation – we save you time and money so you can do more of what you love (and less of the boring stuff like admin). We want to make your life easier by eradicating those repetitive tasks that can be time consuming and draining for the soul. However, there is one rule we have that always needs to be addressed before we dive into automation, and that’s ‘the process’.
‘The process’ is key and your business is almost certainly built on them whether you are aware of it or not, or whether they are written down or not. At some point someone thought about the job you’re doing right now and designed it to achieve a specific outcome. We’re all about that process here at Innovate NP and whenever a new client approaches us wanting to integrate, whether it be their forms, accounting software or something else, our initial question is ‘how do you currently do that?’.
Just because something has always been done in a particular way that by no means makes it the best way to do the job, that’s why we want to know the steps you take to get from A-Z. We want to see these steps because we’re looking at what could be eliminated to get you to Z faster than you ever did before. It’s amazing what you find when you truly examine the process and ask the ‘why’ questions; like ‘why is the data stored in 2 places?’, or ‘why do you input manually in 3 different systems?’. Our aim is to ensure you only ever enter data once (or even better your customer enters the data) making the process as pain free as possible.
Our golden rule is that we don’t automate until we understand the journey. Process is key and will save you time and energy in the long run when trying to automate all the basic tasks in front of you.
